Blackthorne Neighborhood Pub: Tri-Cities new third space

Historic Downtown Kennewick has shifted over the last few years

It’s no longer just tattoo parlors and dive bars (though you can still find some of those around too if that’s your thing), now it’s a bustling area of coffee shops, boutiques, community events, and great restaurants. Whether your thing is antique shopping, hanging out at a local café, shopping for metaphysical supplies, or eating great food in a cool environment, there is something there for you.

One of the great additions to the downtown area is Blackthorne Neighborhood Pub, which opened last year. It’s an English style pub right in the heart of downtown Kennewick. And while (full disclosure) I am friends with the owner, it legitimately is one of my favorite places. The laid back, welcoming vibes are just the start. Add on the delicious food, extensive cocktail – and Mocktail – menu, and the events they host throughout the month, and you’ve got yourself your new third space.

Speaking of mocktails, that’s one of my favorite things about Blackthorne. I don’t drink alcohol very often. I’m talking like 3 times a year. So when I go out and I’m stuck ordering a soda or a juice, it’s kind of a bummer. Blackthorne offers fancy, fun drinks for everyone regardless of whether you’re into booze or not. Which is a game changer! My favorite is the upside downish pineapple. But I’ve tried a lot of their mocktails and I love all of them.

When I first started working with Blackthorne for photos, we actually barely knew each other. It was a passing acquaintance situation. But once we started hanging out to plan their session, Shane and I became such good friends. She’s hilarious, fun, and a little salty while remaining kind and welcoming. Which has translated into the vibes of the pub.

Her plan for photos was to get menu pictures, some headshots, and a few pictures of the Pub itself to show off the vibes. We planned out which drinks she would feature and invited some friends to come for a tasting, all happening before opening day as a menu test.

The shoot was a blast, and they’ve used their pictures in so many fun ways, including putting them on the screen where you see your order before you pay.

These were some of my favorite pictures from our session:

Do you own a restaurant, bakery, bar, pub, café, or other food service business? Let’s talk! I can make your menu items pop in a way that brings new customers in to try them because they look so delicious. Plus, we can feature headshots of your staff and even pictures of customer enjoying their meals.

Altogether, these create a seamless and fluid look on your website, socials, and anywhere else you want to advertise your restaurant.
